SONJA RASMUSSEN
ELEGANT JAZZ AND SASSY POP

SONJA RASMUSSEN has sung all around the world (in Japan, New York, Germany, Israel, just to name a few places). She has recorded with Steve Reich, John Cougar Mellencamp, Helmuth Rilling, and Bimbetta (the groundbreaking five-woman group she founded, which performed 17th-century music in cabaret style). Musical conversations with Sonja revolve around the sometimes humorous, sometimes touching, and always entertaining qualities of music's lyrics. With Steve and guitarist Don Latarski, she performs an eclectic blend of jazz standards, Latin ballads, Beatles tunes, and pop songs by Bob Dylan, Peter Gabriel, Cyndi Lauper, The Magnetic Fields, and more. Critics have called her clear and elegant voice “rapturous” and “sublime”, and her performances “riveting” and “daring”. And the musicians she works with value her inventive arrangements and inspired approaches to well-chosen songs.
